JOB POSTING: Canola Learning Centre Coordinator

The Manitoba Canola Growers Association (MCGA) is a non-profit organization that represents 7500 canola farmers and is committed to maximizing net income for those canola farmers through sustainable production.

Start Date: April 27, 2020

End Date: August 28, 2020

Closing Date for Applications November 29, 2019

Interview Dates will be December 10 and/or 11, 2019

 

The CLC Coordinator will directly report to the Communications Manager and will have the opportunity to work with several managers across the team.

Primary responsibilities include:

1)      Canola Learning Centre

The Canola Leaning Centre hosts around 600 school aged children out to Richardson’s Kelburn Farm to learn about agriculture.  Duties include promotion of program, updating the email database, mail outs, running of school tours, developing and packaging activities, resources and materials.

2)      Support for Summer Learning Group Presentations

MCGA is often invited into classrooms and summer learning groups to do presentations with students that include information about canola and often a quick cooking activity. This role would be responsible for coordinating these visits, purchasing supplies, running the presentation, cleaning up and providing resources and materials as needed.

3)     Support Staff for Projects and Events

MCGA attends various events and shares resources in order to promote canola to consumers, students and farmers.  Duties include working booth shifts, mail outs, assisting in organization of promotion events, research and development of resources.

We are looking for a motivated, self starter, creative, organized student with excellent verbal, written and computer skills.  The applicant must be friendly, outgoing, and approachable.  They must have the ability to work independently within a team environment.  They must have access to a vehicle and willing to travel to Kelburn farm to run Canola Learning Centre tours.  They must be able to work with children.
