Provincial Biodiesel Mandate |
Background
MCGA has been a strong driving force behind the inclusion of renewable biodiesel in Manitoba. Currently we are pushing for the current 2% inclusion rate to be increased to 5%.

Background
Responsible Grain is a national, voluntary Code of Practice that will allow Canadian grain farmers to demonstrate their care and commitment to the environment. MCGA understands that farm voices are vital in directing the development of this code and have worked with partners to bring farmers together for canola specific consultations and encouraged all farmers to take part in open consultations.

Business Risk Management |
Background
MCGA recognizes that the current suite of Business Risk Management Tools, especially AgriStability, is not suiting the needs of most farmers. It has been a top priority to work with lobbying partners at a provincial and national level to push for urgent changes to support farmers now, and develop an improved program that supports farmers in the long term.

Background
Manitoba Canola Growers is actively working with provincial leaders and nationally through our direct representation on the Canadian Canola Growers Association and the Canola Council of Canada to address farmers’ concerns regarding the development and implementation of the Federal Clean Fuel Standard.

Background
MCGA regularly corresponds with provincial government representatives, attending consultations on a variety of key issues impacting canola farmers. Most recently, MCGA responded to the provincial government consultation on four topic areas of Business Risk Management, Resiliency, Innovation and Technology, and Market Opportunities.
COVID – 19 |
Background
The ongoing pandemic has a continuously changing impact on agriculture, from events and meetings, to health and safety requirements, research and beyond. MCGA has worked at both the provincial and national level to stay on top of changes created by COVID 19 and continue to advocate for farmers’ well-being, providing support and information during this pandemic.

Background
Research is essential to farmers staying current, efficient and profitable. Manitoba Canola Growers partners with many organizations to do more with our research investment. We also works with government and the Manitoba Agriculture Research and Innovation Committee (MARIC) to ensure their direction, analysis and recommendations on strategic investments in agricultural research in Manitoba consider the needs of canola farmers.
